Bexhill 60s Revolution
Saturday 13 July 2019

This event looks set to be the star of the local show come July this year. Congratulations to the organisers, looks just fab.—Pevensey Bay Journal, 13 February 2019

Bexhill 60s Revolution is a huge, town-wide, FREE festival taking place in Bexhill-on-Sea on 13 July 2019; celebrating the decade that changed history

Featuring the fashion, the music, the dances, the vehicles and above all the social history that made the sixties so special

Bexhill 60s Revolution is a non-profit-making community event run by Events By The Sea Ltd, whose Directors are Roger Crouch and Alastair Hazell. Together with their experienced team of Fiona Hemsworth, Carlie Stace and Garry Fellows, as well as the support of local helpers, they’re promising an unforgettable 1960s experience for the whole family.

Bexhill 60s Revolution follows on from the hugely successful and much-loved Bexhill Roaring 20s event. The Bexhill Roaring 20s ran for four years from 2014 to 2017 and generated yearly revenue of hundreds of thousands of pounds for the visitor economy of Bexhill-on-Sea.

If you can’t go back using Doctor Who’s tardis (a momentous ’60s creation), then what better way to travel through time than with music?

All it takes is a few bars of ‘Be My Baby’ by the Ronettes, the powerful voice of Aretha Franklin spelling out ‘Respect’, or the testosterone-fuelled roar of Tom Jones in ‘What’s New Pussycat’, and you’ll instantly experience the good times of the swinging sixties.

And, let’s be honest: when it comes to music, there is no better decade. Can you think of any other era which saw the stage dominated by musical legends as iconic as David Bowie, Bob Dylan, Nancy Sinatra, Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Dusty Springfield, Fleetwood Mac, Diana Ross and the Supremes, Johnny Cash and The Beach Boys? Oh, and not to mention a little band you might have heard of called the Beatles…?

The musical acts below are confirmed, so far, for the innaugural, free Bexhill 60s Revolution on Saturday 13 July 2019:

Counterfeit Stones
Why pay a fortune to see ants in a stadium when for a fraction of the price you can get up close and smell the faking brilliance of the Counterfeit Stones? Described by Mick Jagger as “The most famous Stones band in England”, the Counterfeit Stones are more than a tribute to the Rolling Stones, they’re a complete re-enactment!

The Beatles For Sale
One of the best Beatles tribute bands around, The Beatles For Sale will be at Bexhill 60s Revolution. From early Beatles to Sgt Pepper and Rooftop Finale on top of Abbey Road studios authentically recreated. Around town, experience the Magical Mystery Tour. Expect a spectacular finale on the roof of the De La Warr Pavilion.

Sixties Retro

Sixties Retro is a popular, well established 1960s multi-tribute band.

At the Bexhill 60s Revolution they’ll be playing all the hits from the likes of Dave Clark Five, The Hollies, Gerry and the Pacemakers, The Beach Boys, The Byrds, The Bee Gees and many more.

Freak Flag

David Driver, Neil Roberts and Jon Delipps recreate the iconic music of Jimi Hendrix and the Woodstock era.

At the Bexhill 60s Revolution they will replicate the driving rhythms and improvisational adventures of Hendrix and fellow rock pioneers such as Cream, The Doors, Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac, Neil Young and many others.
