This evening we have received the following media release from the group responsible for the foundation of an art gallery in Pevensey Bay—Congratulations to the team responsible for this foundation, what great news for this small coastal community with so much art talent, quite possibly the start of something bigger in the Bay. This may only be a footprint in the right direction, but this really is such great news for the small arty village with a picture hook problem.—Bay Life, 17 February 2019

Art Gallery@The Bay Hotel

As the scaffolding goes up outside The Bay Hotel exciting news comes from the iconic building that is sure to please all art lovers.

As part of their refurbishment programme space is being designated for the creation of an ART GALLERY.

The dark wood panelling within the hotel will make for an impressive backdrop to the framed artwork that will be on display.

The core exhibition will be provided by members of the recently formed Art, Crafts & Photographs [ACAP] group. Artwork will be diverse and include the following genres: watercolour, acrylic, pen & ink, pastel, pencil, lino and paper cut. All work on display will be available to purchase with a percentage from sales going to charity.

ACAP, which was launched on 7th January, meets weekly on Monday afternoons at St Wilfrid’s Church Hall and is still recruiting new members. Anyone interested in joining the group should contact Christine on 07817 464020 or call into the hall on Monday afternoon between 1pm & 4pm.

In addition to artwork from ACAP members, the new ART GALLERY will also showcase work from other local artists on a monthly basis. The first artist to be featured, during April, will be announced shortly.

A special preview event will be organised for invited guests to view the new exhibits. To register your interest and to find out more information please contact Val Racher on  07817 464324 or email to info@rachersoncanvas.co.uk

Karen Hudson, manager of The Bay Hotel, described the forthcoming arrival of the ART GALLERY “ these are exciting times for the Bay Hotel,  the ‘Old Dame’, with the restoration work just starting; there is so much artistic talent in the Bay that I’m going to be out of pocket ”.

A report on the official opening of the ART GALLERY @the Bay Hotel will appear in the next edition of the quarterly Pevensey Bay Art Journal to be published on Saturday 27 April.
