The Bay Hotel has put together a Super Saturday stash of events with all the ingredients of a day that says in the mix essence of Pevensey Bay

We begin with the huge spread of cucumber sandwiches, which as long term staff member Jo, says ‘just has to be”.

Grinning from ear to ear as she made the executive decision, Jo, the woman who has been nominated by Bay Life on a number of occasions as the embodiment of the independent spirit of Pevensey Bay, down to her trademark Dr. Marten’s boots, disappeared inside on her duties.

Talking to Karen Hudson, the landlady, to hear about the patina of the day, you get the sense of the detailing and the big family picture.

What we are going to see on Saturday is family day that will no doubt be remembered for ever and a dayglo.

First up is the three screens so that the pint in hand trip to the toilet will not miss that key moment when we see the happy couple kiss on the chapel steps.

In particular at the altar we wait to see if the father, Thomas Markle, will appear from behind a pillar at some point to see if he will give the bride away.

Karen straight faced and with a grin as big as her heart told us “there is open encouragement to people to dress to impress, all the team will be dressed in Red White and Blue”.

There is a fun day for all planned and the public house and hotel will open up to a day that is most likely to burst at the seams with wit and banter and Markle sparkle and that is only the regulars at the bar stools for starters as you order your first drink.

And of course we will also see Prince Harry put his stamp on proceedings and that should be great as well because the man knows how to put on a party.

Safe money that at some point in the day, there will be an annoucement that the happy couple, are to be the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, by the way. Do not put that point past the bar staff, maybe there will be something special in celebration of that moment.

Preparations will then begin for the FA Cup Final between Chelsea and Manchester United, kick off no doubt well before the 17:15 start point of the match at the Bay Hotel.

Three screens on their red white and blue team Bay Hotel shirts, with some more red and blue on show no doubt.

Then to trip off the evening, the truly magnificent Two Hep Cats take the stage, perhaps now without question becoming one of our very finest bands in the Bay by some measure.

We are talking authentic takes on late forties, fifties blues, jazz and early rock and roll. We are talking Etta James, Connie Francis, Wanda Jackson, early Elvis Presley and Sister Rosetta Tharpe

This train is a coming.

Congratulations to Karen and Jo and all the team at the Bay Hotel, this billing is trailed to be Super Saturday and something special. As Karen explains “a traditional festive fun day in the pub”

Red and White and Blue, and big brownie points to the Bay Hotel.

What the Bay Hotel does is project the place that Karen Hudson calls the grand dame of Pevensey Bay so well now.
